Looking at using an MP3 player with the home system, to save changing CD's every 5 mins..
My question is "is the any differance in the quality in play back of the cheaper MP3 players vs the more expensive such as the Ipod".
I know playback quality is dependant upon the quality of the encoding, and the speakers or headphones being used"
But as I plan to use the MP3 Player as an Aux input on the main system, will I notice differance between say the Ipod.. or a ebay MP3 inport from Hong Kong at 1/3rd the price?
Thanks

Well you shouldnt notice too much difference as long as your original
mp3 sound is at a Bitrate of 192 or above, bearing in mind this will increase
the file size....0 -
Yeah you may do. It's a bit of a gamble, you ideally want to listen to the unit itself before buying as it's subjective.
From my personal experience I have found unbranded, or cheaper mp3 players to project a less full, more "tinny" kind of sound. And this was just listening through my headphones. You'd probably notice the difference a lot more if playing it through a decent and well setup hifi.
You can't go wrong with the quality of the the Creatives, iRiver's, Ipod's, IAudio, to name a few. My advice would be to buy something inline with the rest of your hifi system. Ie if you have a decent system, get a decent mp3 players kind of thing."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Thanks guys,
we are currenlty using a Bose system.. which seems to make even the worst recorded CD's sound great..
I undertand what your saying wolfman about the cheap players through the headphones.. but was that the headphones or the players?
I do not want to get caught up with the marketing hype on MP3 Players, and would pay for quality and for product output or developoment, not their marketing budgets....lol.The only place where success comes before work is the dictionary…

Ah yeah, sorry should have said, no I've used my decent pair of Sennheiser's on two, a friend got one from China (or thereabouts) and I was deliberating over getting one myelf with interchangeable sdram and tried one out at a computer fair. I've used the same headphones on my iPod 3G and 4G (sold both now) and my Shuffle and they do generally to my ears sound better. It's difficult to tell a huge difference through headphones though."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
