I've just said the very same thing to a friend just this minute! :rotfl: I'm now on the lookout for a cheap shredder and then I'm going to treat the hamster with some new bedding and as my OH said "You can let your pet s**t on the bills now!" :rotfl: That made me laugh! I have two huge files full of bills, paid and unpaid, and I can't wait to clear my office of them!

The only thing that concerns me is my work as I'm a freelance PA & Event Organiser, have no idea what the OR is going to say about all that  I've got my own website and have built up a good reputation and am really worried about what's going to happen next :o But I'm not going to let that worry me, will just wait for my interview and see what they say!

Seriously though it wasn't bad at all, OH was very surprised as well, he went bust nearly 20 years ago for £100k thanks to a supplier and a customer conning him and going bust on the same day!

To anyone out there who is concerned don't leave it and get even more stressed by being concerned!

Your hamster will love the shredded bills! Mine does! I had bags of shredded bills which lasted as bedding for ages.

Thanks for the nice post and for giving encouragement to those who are worried about it.

Good luck. Hopefully you feel relief and your hamster will too with all that new bedding!

The OR contacted me within 3 hours of returning from court to check a few details and to offer support and advice, they were really nice although asked me several times for information that I didn't have with me as I was walking the dawg! Had to repeat myself each time that I didn't have any paperwork on me as I was out of the house but all the information was on the forms!

I do rent atm yes, moved out of the family home last November and left the mortgage behind! Have been trying to get my name removed ever since but the ex has given excuse after excuse! Well it'll finally happen! :T

Moneywise it should have been £495 including court fees but as I'm on Income Support I completed a form to get the £150 waived, you do have to have proof of your income support in form of a letter which is less than a month old, fortunately I had a letter as I'd recently changed bank details! I did forget to take it with me though so had to go home for it! D'oh!

Next step - find out if your local court has a drop in session for bankruptcy or ask for an appointment. My local court has a drop in session Mon-Fri from 9-12.30 I think it was and it's first come first serve. I wanted to get there before 9.30 but got stuck at school so was a little bit late and was surprised to see there was only one other person there before me! They didn't have the right info so had to go away but I didn't see anybody else there at all and we were there most of the morning!

They do ask if you've received any advice about going BR, not sure if you have or not, if not CAB or the debt helplines are really helpful, I haven't got the numbers at hand but I'm sure another member can point you in the right direction

I also want to add that at every single point of contact the court and the staff were amazing, really friendly and helpful! :A

Hi as with DMof2 I am unemployed but took evidence of income,3 months bank statements (3 months wage slips if you have them) had to pay £345 but court costs waived. I had to book an appointment which was about 2 weeks, each area can differ, the OR called the same day just for 5 mins with basic questions..strange I was walking my dog as well:D :D so she rang back 20 mins later.I had to wait for the post to find out about my interview..this took 10 days after BR. OR interview will be 4 weeks after BR. I have a mortgage but think repayments are part of my problem along with unemployment..not sure what I will do waiting for repossession (not vol) going to contact shelter in the meantime
Keep in touch the members of this site are very supportive.

  • Wow that was quick!!!! Got all the paperwork from the court and OR this morning and have my OR interview on Thursday 24th July at 2pm! :O The kids will be around then so could be a better time but I'm sure I'll be fine! Can't believe it's come through so quickly though! Glad it has though as it means I can get everything tidied up this week and hopefully have most stuff done so I can enjoy the summer hols with the kids!!!!
