Short term car insurance for car worth £50,000

Hi, I have been a long time lurker on this forum and it has saved me countless £££'s over the years, but now i need some advice so thought this would be the place to ask. I need to pick up a car from down south (Nottingham) and drive it up to Glasgow. I only need to be insured on the car for a day or two maximum so would like to take out short term cover but all the companies I have tried so far don't quote on cars over £40,000. I am only 23 years old and so that might be a problem too (although i have 5 years NCD if thats any help). Are there any company's that could be recommened or any other avenues I could explore?
thanks,
thanks,

I had a look at a few of the usual suspects and the max was £40,000 for all of them. If the car is group 18-20, you're going to struggle to get insured at all at 23 years old.
You don't explain the circumstances, but I'm assuming it's not your vehicle. Could the owner not add you as a named driver on a temporary basis?0 -
Hi, the car is going at an auction and so it hasn't been purchased yet, it's actually for my brother and he can't get off work so is sending me off to go bid and hopefully get it (for him). He is working nights just now and so has left it to me to arrange the insurance and do the usual checks and all that (ahh the beauty of being a student) and I'm struggling to find any short term insurance whatsoever never mind one that is decently priced.0

If he wants the car that badly let him get it - problem solved.0

Does him working nights prevent him from getting quotes or setting up a full policy with you as a named driver any more than working days would? Surely if he can afford to drop £50k on a car he can afford to take the day off as well? It may be entirely innocent, but buying a £50k car in this way sounds exceedingly fishy, I'm not surprised insurers won't wouch it on a short-term cover.0 -
It may be cheaper to pay for a Company to transport the car.0

Hi, yeah thanks for advice - we have looked at transporter costs and if I can't get insurance (which is probably the case) he will be going down that route. He has tried but can't take the day off (works in a hospital and it's never easy to get days off other than your designated ones) . Even with me on a full policy it is coming to quite a lot - over £2000 - without me it drops to £400. It probably wasn't meant to be but I was looking forward to driving it up!0
