We have booked a one week cruise on Ocean Village 2 commencing 22 July sailing around the Med.
I am now about to ask a very silly question. What currency(ies) are used on board? Additionally has anyone used this vessel?

Hi,
Your bill will be charged in sterling. At embarkation you will be given a card, exactly the same as a cheque guarantee card. This is your door key and account card. You will be asked for your bank account details or if you prefer, you will be able to pay in cash at the end of the cruise. Every time you purchase anything on board, drinks, photos, etc., you will hand over your card. You will be asked to sign for everything you buy. It makes sense to keep your receipts in order that you can check your statement at the end.
No money is handed over anywhere on the ship. Its a brilliant system. You can ask for a copy of your account at any time to see how much you have spent. Our first cruise was on OV and it got us hooked on cruising and I am sure you will enjoy it. Sally0 -
I haven't been on that particular cruise ship, but keep the following in mind when you're on vacation. Cruise ships, in my experience, charge you extra for EVERYTHING you do onboard. They charge for drinks, alcoholic or not, any exercise classes or special activities. My advice is just to be careful when signing up for things to know how much they cost in advance so that you're not surprised when you get the bill a the end of the trip!
One specific thing I learned: I bought the "soda for the whole cruise package", a one time fee for all the soda I can drink. As it turns out, it would have been cheaper to buy one coke at a time. FYI.
That being said, have a FABULOUS trip! ;-)0 -
We went on the Greek Islands cruise on the ship last year. We enjoyed it,found the trips ashore expensive so did our own thing, except we went on the jeep safaris which were good value and great fun. At a couple of ports we had arranged for a hire car to be waiting for us.,that went without a hitch. In most ports though it was possible to walk/taxi into the amin drag for much less than the organised tours particularly if you are a family.
The restaurants were good,it is worth dining in the james martin Bistro, and paying th esupplement maybe once or twice. Entertainment is OK,not brilliant but on a level with most hotels abroad. As you only pay on departure it may be worth keeping a running total of the bar bills etc as it can mount up. It is a good system though
Internet access was sporadic so dont count on logging onto MSE!!!
If you drink the bottled water placed in the cabin it is added to your bill and is quite expensive. Take a 4 plug adaptor as when you need to charge phones, cameras etc and use hair driers/tongues tyhere is a shortage of plugs.
It was our first cruise and we enjoyed it,I suspect you will too!!0 -
