Looking to go to Singapore from Manchester on Sunday 5th Oct (lands on the 6th) and come back Wednesday 15th Oct and stay at the Rasa Sentosa Resort by Shangri-La.
Cheapest price I've found is via Lastminute.com for £2296.60 minus the 10% cashback I get with my Egg money card it comes in at £2066.94, can anyone find a better price?
Any tips on and advice for the trip too? I'm thinking it's worh making a trip to Raffles...

Be flexible about accommodation: there are plenty of cheap places that you can book locally.
Be aware that Singapore is essentially a large and rather soul-less city. If you want a beach holiday then go to Malaysia, where you can get well away from big cities and also enjoy much lower costs.0 -
I know but having had a look at a millions we've finally decided on this place!2p off is still 2p off!0

If you go Singapore Airlines book accommodation through them you get a special rate. Also you can pay a bit (about £25 I think) extra to be picked up by a car at the airport, the driver sorted out all our formalities and we were whisked through like royalty. Thought Raffles overated, orchid gardens fantastic as were the temples, do go in but remember to obey rules, remove shoes appropriate dress etc. Found a great real flea market, not for tourists, each evening near the Arab quarter.0

we have been told we must do the night safari, as that is great. My mum and dad who live out there have done it 3 times so far!!
also we are going swimming with dolphins at sentosa, which we are really looking forward to.
when we have been, i will let you know what we did and what it was like. We are also doing raffles, mr divadee MUST have a singapore sling in there apparently! lol
we are flying with singapore airlines, they were a lot cheaper for us. but then we dont need a hotel we are staying with family.
let me know if there is anything specific and i will try and find out when we are there.0 -
Not wishing to downplay your research, but I shuddered when I saw your intended resort for 9 nights. Sentosa is more of a play thing for Singaporeans, no real real beach, no soul.
If you're flying Singapore Airlines (I don't know by your original post) then it is the same price to use them to continue onto somewhere else. So you could do 3 days Singapore, 2 days Sentosa and 5 days Bali, or Lombok, or somewhere else for similar (flight) costs.
Still, each to their own.0 -
I am in Singapore staying just now for 3 months while my hubby works here. One tip bring plenty money(lol).Sentosa and night safari good. Also bird park here as well.Raffles very nice to see but dinner very disappointing. You can go on Singapore flyer which is like the London eye. Chinatown nice at night. Clarke Quay also very good for dining .Try the hawker food centres where all the locals eat Good fun and dirt cheap.Beer is very expensive in places . Keep out the Bar at the front of Marriot in Orchard Street 42sd for 2 pints.
Shopping a must for every lady.Orchard St shoppers paradise. Suntec ,Raffles Boulavard, Bugis Junction, Chinatown, Little India, all worth a visit. Vivo City and harbourfront as well.
Go to visitors centre in Orchard street and get loads of leaflets and trawl through them all as loads of things to do to numerous to mention. Just depends what you want to do. I have been here three weeks and go somewhere different every day for a few hours while hubby is at work So easy to get around on Mrt cheap as well. Look out for free buses as well.
You can also go across to malaysia for the day or 3 days for 450sd for 2.

Flying via Emirates, I've had a slight rethink and Sentosa might be too much for 9 days and just stay in Singapore, we were thinking of doing a multi-stop but to be honest can't be doing with that, just want to relax really.
What's the best way to book the night safari?
How long does it take to get to Malaysia, guess I could do that for a day trip??2p off is still 2p off!0 -
Will check it out for you and let you know Been thinking of going myself. Will put in a few website for you to check about things and you can see what you can do.0
