I don't know if this is the right place to post my situation at the moment.
I have posted on the bankruptcy board as My OH was intending to declare himself BR,However, the situation has changed and he is leaving me and the children.
He is taking the cowards way out and walking away from all of the debts, including the mortgage, I can't afford to pay it on my own and we have 3 months of arrears, a possesion hearing next month and he has no intention to attend, so I am on my own and scared.
I have been to the CAB today who have helped me fill in an N254 form, to ask for more time for me to sort out my finances and I have to take it to the courts asap.
I earn approximately £100 to £120 per week, I will need to fill out another tax credits claim pack now that I am single and also a council benefits claim form.
Everything is just too much at the moment, I'm very low, tearful, I feel like I am a failure and I haven't told the kids yet that Daddy isn't coming home.
Should I try and look for a rented property? should I try and pay the mortgage at £1034 a month? I am on the housing list, but they won't help unless I have an eviction date and then I may have made myself homeless???
I don't know what to do? I don't want the kids in a hostel or a B&B
Can anyone advise?

Personally I'd be looking for a rental property quickly. There's no way on earth you're going to be able to afford the mortgage. At least if you're renting, the council will pay most of it.0

Hello wot a life,
Sorry to hear bout ur situation. The only thing I can offer is Tax Credits advice... give them a call asap, they can get ur joint claim ended over the fone and transfer u to an applications team- they will take the application over the phone (takes about 10/15 minutes and mostly involves copying and pasting from ur old claim). Aslong as ur working 16 hours p/wk u will get Working Tax Credits and hopefully ur Child Tax Credits will go up- all depending on wot ur joint income was and what ur single income is. Hopefully this will ease a little of ur financial worries. After that, best thing to do is see what CAB say...

Can you change the mortgage to interest only to reduce the monthly payment?
Post your SOA so people can have a look through it and help you pick it apart to make hopeful improvements.
Take care

Now that you're single, you'll get a lot more in tax credits, probably will double your earned income as you'll get the lone parent award too. Don't forget to chase him for maintenance payments too. What about selling up and moving to a cheaper property? There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

Tax credits application is vital, I would also say to move, private rent if necessary, before the BR or repossesion occurs if it has got to that stage as some LLs are fussy with credit checks etc now.
Good luck xOne day I might be more organised...........

have you contacted the housing offices, depending on where you live you can sometimes apply for help with the mortgage when you are on a low income.
Also one way to go if you do end up getting rid of the house is staying with a friend of relative who doesn't have enough room you can be housed pretty quickly on over crowding.
Do you have any friends you could rent a room out too? or could you just rent the property out and live in rented yourself?
Contact the citizens advice folks they can be really helpful depending on circumstances you may also be entitled to receive a crisis loan from the DWP.0 -
Aww the best of luck to you.
If the bills are in joint names be careful
the ex did that and i was left with all the bills.
10 years down the line and finally this is the year that i can pay my bills without them turning to a debt.
I had to pay the whole lot so when a bill came in, it went to the bottom of the pile etc... probably not the best way to deal with it, but then again i didn't know about MSE back then.
Lots of helpful people on here, so the best of luck to you, and hold your head up high :grouphug:Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0
