    On investigation, it looks like Visa Connect is the same as Visa Debit, and its just Barclays deciding to name theirs differently. Its a debit card, like electron, not a credit card like classic.

    Your list looks like it has most of the big players, and if Halifax has a handy pull to it then they are a fair choice.

    I would suggest avoiding withdrawing cash from your credit card as much as possible as while most won't charge a direct fee, the interest can be at very high rates (often 20-30% APR) and is charged from the day you withdraw the cash. Also, with credit cards, you can have different interest rates for different sorts of transactions. While you won't be able to see it on your bill, any payemts are usually applied to whatever has the lowest interest rate. This means if you don't pay off the full bill you can get stuck with some high-interest transactions costing you a fortune every month!
