changing colour of wood fire surround

hiyas , weve recently moved into a house that i dont like! suffice to say were tryin to 'tart' it up and modernise it very cheaply to enable us to seell
weve got a wooded mahogany fire surround that needs changing either to white or beach,, to match wood flooring due to go down, any ideas if we could do this without it lookin rubbish?
if not ne idea wheres the cheapest place to get 1

White or cream satin finish.
prepare, undercoat, prepare, satin finish, prepare another satin finish.
the key word is prepare, prepare, prepare and you will get a professional finishmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

as long as you measure the rebate etc its a piece of cake to change the surround...(once you have found where it is screwed to the wall!)
We got a custom size one made (as our rebate was non standard) in Beech for less than £200 made in less than a week and took me a couple of hours to fit myself having never done one. (but then i am quite handy with elecs / plumbing etc)0 -
sand it down and wax it beech £10 for big pot0
