Hi Barjam
I've just had my new portable dvd player delivered to me today from www.currys.co.uk
The reasons behind my purchase were
8.4 inch screen which is much bigger than standard
2 x rechargeable batteries as standard (so I can view for over 5 hours without a power source - great for long haul)
& lots of kit as standard which are extra on other portable dvd players (headphomes/leads etc)
sadly it costs £179.99 online which is more than what you want to pay. But if you go to any of the numerous online discount voucher websites you can easily pick up the codes to bring your price down by 5% and get free delivery = £170.99 and if you buy it with an egg money card you'll get 10% cash back which brings it down again to £153.89 which I think is an excellant price for the kit that you get.

Have a look here http://www.valutech.co.uk/products.asp/pages/catid.778/ecombuilder.html
Products are refurbished, used these myself and was well impressed with the product, even though it said graded and may have slight scratches it came fully boxed with all accessories and no marks what so ever

If you find one I will be interested to see what. I have been looking and am also willing to pay more for better quality. All that seems to be recommended are the cheaper ones.0

Hi waster
it's similar - but not the same !
The Tesco's one is actually a newer (& i assume mabye even better) version of mine.
The difference being the Tesco's dvd player is in a sexier silver colour and the controls are sleeker - but it only has one battery.
Whereas the Currys dvd player has 2 x batteries included (which to me is a BIG advantage) and the discounts I was able to get brought the price down even further.

p.s if anyone is doing a search for this item - GDVD84WLCD comes with 2 x batteries, but GDVD84W2LCD only comes with one battery.0 -
wow phatbear
thats a lot of kit for the money, I suppose it comes down to whether having 5 hours of battery time rather than 2 is important to you.
