I agree about upgrading, but probably not to a worse, more unstable, operating system (i.e. ME).

You might consider using a more recent email application such as Thunderbird, and if you're still using IE 6, perhaps upgrading to something like Opera.

Thank you to f1charlie and everyone else who have replied to this thread, it has taken me several days because I was worried about adjusting the registry - in the end I thought if it all went belly up I would re-format the computer.

However I followed the instructions to the letter (this time) and it worked and everything is now ok with no re-format.
