Air tattoo cancelled - refund rights?

As you all probably know The Royal International Airt Tattoo was cancelled last weekend.
I purchased my tickets from local Tourist Office and wanted have my refund there but they are saying I will have to post my tickets to The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises in Fairford to make a claim.
I don't understand why I cannot get my refund from the place I paid for the tickets.
Posting them to Fairford will mean that I will actually loose several pounds by doing it as I would have to send tickets by Special Delivery so they wouldn't get lost in the post. And also I would have to wait 8 weeks for my refund.
Surely this is against the law?

Its not against the law as it was cancelled due to a cause beyond the organiser's control.
They have agreed to provide a refund and they are being upfront about how long it will take. You don't have to send them by special delivery - that is up to you.0 -
Personnally I wouldnt send them special delivery - instead I would make sure I kept a photocopy of the tickets and get proof of postage. I'm guessing that they are only sayin 8 weeks because of the numbers they need to refund (see below) - you'll probably find it might be quicker.REFUND POLICY

Its disgusting that they are giving you hassle over a refund you are rightfully entitled to. Did you pay with a credit card?0

I used debit card.0

Shame really, but I guess they didn't expect for it to be cancelled.
I should think the 8 weeks part is just to give themselves some room to breathe. I dare say you will get refunded well before the 8 weeks.
Just get them posted and relax..
Shame you missed out though, I went last year and despite the rain it was very good.BSC Member 155

Lets also remember that it is a charity and that they would not have the staff to administer thousands and thousands of refunds.
And they are not giving "hassle" at all.0 -
Also as a charity they will be losing thousands of pounds income and lots of money in postage, staff time etc refunding the payments.
If it were a business then it different in my eyes. I would return the tickets complete with an SAE in case they return the money by cheque. I wouldn't want the charity to be out of pocket because of something beyond their control.0 -

Very true tozer & dougk.
The RIAT gives money from ticket sales to charities that provide support and assistance to members of the RAF and their families (current and former). MiniMinni the people that are helped are the people who were/are prepared to die for your right to cry about losing a few pounds on postage - so cut them some slack or be genuinely charitable and not request a refund."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0
