Air tattoo cancelled - refund rights?

As you all probably know The Royal International Airt Tattoo was cancelled last weekend.

I purchased my tickets from local Tourist Office and wanted have my refund there but they are saying I will have to post my tickets to The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises in Fairford to make a claim.

I don't understand why I cannot get my refund from the place I paid for the tickets.

Posting them to Fairford will mean that I will actually loose several pounds by doing it as I would have to send tickets by Special Delivery so they wouldn't get lost in the post. And also I would have to wait 8 weeks for my refund.

Surely this is against the law?

I thought I always have right to get a refund from the place I did the purchase?

I have never dealt with Air Tattoo people.

Appreciate it is an important issue to you but why post your thread in 3 separate places?

Nothing like getting lots of people repeating the same information is there?

I believe it's also run by a charitable trust so they will struggle to get the number of admin staff (or volunteers as they will probably be) to process speedy refunds, so I wouldn't get too arsey about how long they take, unless you fancy volunteering.

They also probably don't have the means to refund from your point of purchase.

Also, i'm sure that you can send 1st class, but it's just your fault if they don't arrive.

Of course, if you test the legal basis, i'm sure you'll get tonnes of support taking a charitable trust to court to refund the couple of quid you've lost. Maybe you should put in a claim for Non-Pecuniary Damages whilst you're there as i'm sure it's causing you to lose sleep, and left you in emotional turmoil with far reaching consequences.

After all, i'm sure that all the charities (including the RAF Benevolent Fund) who lost out huge sums of money from the events cancellations didn't actually need the money anyway.

I too lost out, petrol, campsite fees etc.. and most of all disapointment, we had been looking forward to it for ages.

On the bright side, on friday afternoon we had a skinful of beer, pub grub,a great view of the Queen`s flypast from a pub car park in Kempsford and saw the the American Raptor practising his display from the end of the runway. The day ended with a good band and some more Arkells 2B at the George in Kempsford

It was shame but the real losers here are the charity who will now have to spend many hours and probably lose large amounts of cash processing about 180,000 refunds. I hope they were insured!

Anyway we will still see some of our favourites as the Vulcan, Raptor, A380 and B1B are all present at Farnborough next weekend we just got in in time for the reduced advance tickets on Sunday afternoon. Lets hope it doesn`t rain too hard this week.

    Cheers,

Are you sure the F22 Raptor is at Farnborough at the weekend? I understood that it was scheduled to fly at RIAT on Saturday/Sunday, Farnborough on Monday (today) and then go off back home - when I last looked it was flying on Monday only.

The display it did today was awesome, and fairly lengthy which was just as well as there were only 10 aircraft displaying this afternoon.

The Vulcan, A380 and B1B are all scheduled for the weekend.

Oops you are right it is not in the list for Saturday and Sunday, as you say only today. Were you at the show today? The practice we saw on friday was really impressive.
    What an agile aircraft.
Must have been good to see the full version.

So jealous of you right now...

It certainly was a very disappointing weekend!

Personally would really want to see the Vulcan. Brings back fond memories of childhood.

Flown on the A380 already back in November so that box is already ticked.
