Assurant premium hike.

I have an unemployment-only policy with Assurant/British Insurance. Premium going up to £42 pm for £800 cover.

I am struggling to find anyone who will offer me the same level of cover AND waive the exclusion period. I am not in a particularly risky profession but dont want the risk of being uninsured for 90 days or whatever.

Anyone got any pointers? Note that its unemployment only I am interested in as I already have a good Income Protection policy for the sickness/accident insurance.

I'm reviving this old thread to say that in May this year assurant increased the premium again, this time to over £90!

Of course I cancelled it, rang them up and sent an email.

No reply through the post so a couple of weeks later I cancelled the direct debit.

2 days later a snotty letter saying that because I had cancelled the direct debit they had voided the policy.

Obviously they didn't want my business and are getting rid of these now risky policies.

I got another policy from another company though, and the premium is close to the original I was paying.
