How to clean a ceramic hob?

When I clean my ceramic hob, I can't seem to get all of the stuff off. I do get most of it, but I want to be able to clean it and have it looking brand new. What cleaning solution should I be using?

I find that Astonish works well and brings the hob up sparkling.

If the mark is burnt on it will take many sessions of cleaning but eventually it will come off. I also use the astonish stuff. I did always clean before I cooked (which is not quite the same as cleaning after cooking!!) and I was also told to wait until the hob was cool to touch (I mean cooler than the obvious cool, obviously :D ). I was also told to use a separate cloth and not the dish washing one. You can get a conditioning cloth but I never quite understood that  I think in Lakeland or if you contact the maker of your hob.

I loved my hob and the greatest compliment I had was when a new house owning friend said to me she wanted to keep her new hob as clean looking as I kept mine.

Can you guess I don't have it now, well, I WILL. When the extension gets done
  • The best thing to use is a product called "Hob Brite", just rub it on and leave overnight. Rub off with soft cloth in morning and your hob will be spotless every time.

I second tight-wad-user's suggestion..I've used Hob Brite for 6 years and my ceramic hob still looks like new. Never had to leave it on overnight though, even with burnt on spills I just squirt a little onto a sponge scourer and rub gently then wipe off with a damp cloth. A bottle lasts me about two years so it's good value too.

Get one of these to scape the burnt food off & then clean off with Jif cream cleaner & nylon scourer and finish off with Hob-Brite.
