Debt - prepayment
After switching to prepayment due to an outstanding bill, I am confused about the repayment of the debt.
The meter is set to take the repayment £7.80 and standing charge of £2.97 per week every Wednesday before any credit for gas is given.. Obviously if meter is credited say on Friday instead the amount taken reflects this and is higher.
However when I receive quarterly statement the quantity of gas used is taken first.
last bill 04/03/08 - 03/06/08 £115.64 gas used
£33.94 SC 91 days
Total inc vat £157.05
Total credited to meter £ 206.72
leaving £49.67 to deduct from debt.
By my reckoning they have taken £101.40 for debt in this period i don't understand how the debt is taken before gas is given and then the exact opposite on the bill gas first debt second.
As £10 is taken before gas is available and I can only afford £18 we often have periods of a few days when we are without gas.

The statement should pretty much match the meter, but there can be discrepancies in dates, and when payments reach the supplier.
For example, I'm under the impression you can only top up whole pounds, but it shows that you have topped up £206.72.
Check screen 10 for your price/kWh, and screen 27 for how much debt the meter is looking for.
Screen 26 should show £7.20 - that might be worth checking too.
If you are struggling you could ask to reduce this a bit.0
