has anyone bought a laptop battery from ebay? i need a replacement for an ibook g4 (an a1080 replacement) and all the sellers are doing replacements from japan/china - which seem very similar looking to the ones that you can buy from retailers for much more. and i'm mean!
i also object to paying £90 for a battery from the apple store!!!

I know what you mean - "original" manufacturers batteries are stupidly expensive!
My own experience of several purchases of Chinese "compatibles" is that they have all worked, but some did not have quite the same capacity (irrespective of their published capacity). I would guess that the worst ones had around two thirds the capacity of the original.
Given that you will probably pay a quarter of the original's price, it seems worthwhile unless battery run-time is critical to you.0 -

did they come off ebay?
i think the issue of ridiculous prices for batteries isn't confined to apple - for once! :rolleyes:My signature has been removed by the authorities. If you have been affected by the issues raised in this signature, please contact the Action Line on 1-800-THEY-NICKED-MY-SIG.0 -
Some came from Ebay - one for a Tosh laptop, a Palm T3, and a Canon camera battery did.
Also had a similar experience with Canon camera batteries from 7dayshop, where if you bought 2, they each cost less than a tenth of an original! They aren't quite as good but I can live with that for the massive saving...0 -
