Advice - re supervised access to children

Hi all, can anyone help. I need to find out how to go about arranging supervised access. Basically cutting a long story short, my children live with me and my ex (their father) lives over 100 miles away. Up till now he has been coming to see them one saturday in 4 and sometimes taking them back to his house for the weekend before returning them home on sunday. Things have changed and I feel he can't be trusted to have the children on his own (history of alcholol abuse etc). He is I believe still drinking and cant look after himself never mind the children. I am worried for their saftey. Don't know what to do next though, do I go to a solicitor or is there another way? We are divorced, and I do not particularly want to be the supervisor!

I would never stop my children from seeing their daddy, but I do feel that they are in danger if he was to have them alone. I know that you can get a mediator but not sure how this works if the parents live so far apart.

Has anyone got any experience of doing this - if so how did you go about it. Any suggestions are welcome.

My brother was in a similar, roles reversed situation... get in contact with cafcass who administer the supervise access.

my brother had to go through the court to get this in place though.

    hope this helps
