The last time I wanted to make hob nobs I did not have porage oats so has to use sachets of oatsosimple instead.
One of the sachets was apple flavoured and it made a real difference to the taste - everyone raved about them- I added ginger and cinnamon as well."This site is addictive!"

Oh and chicken pie the pastry on the top looked ready but when I went to eat it the bottom was still soggy and yuck! Maybe it needed longer with some foil over the top, but I wouldnt need to do this in the oven.
I cooked a quiche the other day in a glass flan dish, it was ideal because I could see if the bottom was cooked when i checked on it.0 -
Mrs. M. - can I ask how many flapjacks you managed to get out of your mixture? I always cut round cakes, etc. into wedges but wanted to cut my flapjacks smaller but didn't want them to break (hope you are still with me!). Therefore, I cut 6 wedges and then took the bottom off each wedge to leave 6 triangles and 6 rectangles, giving me 12 pieces in all. Is there a better way?0

Hi Organic
I just cut mine into 8 wedges:rotfl: ...
Although I am pondering about making the mix as normal and then spooning it into silicone muffin cases  ...not full up obviously only about the same depth as it is done in the pan - and It would have to be done in batches but I could stick both machines on..
That would make nice "sensible" treats -rather than greedy piggy ones.. just wondering about the sugar cntent and am i likely to ruin my silicone cases

I like that we can make a roast dinner in the remoska without using 3 or 4 different pans - we can toss the meat (beef, chicken, lamb) in the remoska, peel some carrots and throw them in around the meat, then add peeled halved potatoes on top of that with a bit of oil spritzed on it, and later you have a lovely meal - and not a ton of washing up!
Lasagna came out great this time - last time I didn't cook it quite long enough, although it was still okay. I like being able to just put together the sauce, then toss everything in in layers and turn on the remoska. So easy. And the grande makes just big enough to feed family of 5, plus a few servings left over to pop in freezer and let DH take to work and heat up for dinners.
We bought some silicone muffin cases and a square cake pan - so I'm looking forward to trying out a few things with them.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
Done a bacon joint in moski today, just in water, mainly cos I forgot to put it in the slowcooker early enough! Looks fab and easier than on the hob, as I didn't need to keep checking the water level!
Will be serving with savoy cabbage, mini roasties and cheese sauce.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
I find that if you use the shallow dish for the Grande remoska, which I think from memory you'll need to purchase seperately, but well worth the investment, you will no longer get soggy fish fingers. Place the fish fingers or chicken kiev on the outer edge, ie under the element and they cook very quick from frozen.
I must admit, it is a little trial and error, however I'd be lost without my Remoska. :rotfl:Thank you Martin and all at MSE :j0 -
i made a cake in the remoska!!! (sorry but being new to this i was skeptical about baking in it)
it was the most incredibly simple, eggless and fat free pineapple upside down cake. i really thought it would be dry and need custard but it was moist and delicious.
i am soooo impressed!!
and all from my 8 quid carboot bargain!!- prior planning prevents poor performance!

I've made my mince pies in the Remoska in those silicon cupcake cases that are 69p in Homebargains - worked wonderfully! :j
