    Another anecdotal... Mate of mine is a carpet fitter, his firm mainly do site work, he's been working three day weeks recently. So it's either lose staff, or cut existing staffs hours right down, not much choice if there's no work about.

    I feel sorry for him as he has a couple of kids and him and the missus are having a hard time managing of late.

    My uncle owns a large construction company in yorkshire. A lot of his work for the past 5 years has been subcontracted to Barrett, and they have had no work from Barret since the beginning of the year. Luckily he has quite a few millions in the past, so short term cash flow won't be an issue for him, not many will be in this position though.
