Slight leak from washing machine

Hi
Was hoping for the views of the ollective wisdom of the board
I noticed a small amount of water comes out of my washer dryer at the start of the cycle when ever I put it on - enough to get a hand towel quiet damp, but not enough to flood the kitchen. I cant see anything obvious at the back of the machine, and it still is running ok for the time being, although at about 5 years old, and having ha a lot of rough treatment from the previous ownres, it might be on its way out. Is it worth getting an expert to come and look at it? or should I bite the bullit and get a new one - if so, would you say it is an immediate rush out now and buy one, or can it wait for a few days/weeks?

Where is the leak coming from?
2 easy fixes are :
If from the door then a new seal may do - £20.00 online and fit yourself.
If from the soap drawer - clean it out and this MAY sort the problem.
Let us know where the leak is.0 -
not entirely sure - doesnt appear to be coming from the door, or the drawer - seems to be from inside, and only occurs at the very start of the cycleNo longer an accidental landlord, still a wannabe millionaire:beer:

Reduce the water pressure to your machine by turning the tap one quarter turn in the off direction. Could be that water entering the soap dispenser bounces off and runs out (ie. on your floor). Had similar problem years ago.0

Hi Molit, Hi all,
Hope you don't mind me butting in but I have a similar problem at the moment and I just wanted to confirm my possible theory and get advice to get a permanent solution... My problem started about 6 months ago, I called someone out and they cleaned the outlet by the upbend which was seriously blocked - however this is not the problem so whilst I learnt something, it hasn't resolved my leak.
My washing machine also leaks, it can cover the floor - so not just a drip, I think I can establish that it is just at the start of a cycle. Yday I switched it off and restarted it and it didn't leak. I am wondering if my washing tablets are temporarily blocking the flow of water. However this morning I broke the tablet up into granules and it still leaked. I switched it off, restarted it and once again it didn't leak. I guess the test would be to do a wash without any powder, but could someone offer me any advice as to whether my diagnosis could be right? Or can anyone else suggest anything? I put newspaper under the washing machine and can confirm that the leak is coming from the side that the soap dispenser is on, I think about 3 inches from the front of the machine.
