They Paid for the transfers to Heathrow yes, but i missed the transport from Heathrow to my final destination, thats the bit i wanted to claim on.

And as they are willing to take my receipts and look into it, im fine with that.

No i'm not after "bucket loads" of compensation, it was their customer services and helpfulness that prompted the complaint, if they had just offered to pay for the transport there and then, i would have been ok with that, but it was their resistance to help us out that annoyed me.

We were 50 miles further away from our destination and they did not want to help us out...after all we did pay to goto Heathrow!

The Taxi from gatwick to heatrow could have cost me £86, i was not prepared to pay that upfront when i shouldnt have had to...

I agree that you need to file this section of your life under s*%t happens... You almost spent £86 on a taxi? Surely you took public transport? Or is your opinion of any transport as gloomy?

I have booked a flight Via Detroit with NWA, and the stop-over is 12 hours... ah well... sleep it is!

Moneysavingexpert.com is about saving money. You flew business class, which is just glorified economy at an extortionate cost, then you Considered £86 worth of Taxi?!!!

I sudgest read this website in a little bit more detail. Most of the tips are getting by, and occasionally.... S*^T HAPPENS! :money:

Eh? The last post was over a month ago!

Your comment about business class being glorified economy is a little odd. In my experience, it is a much more comfortable way of travelling long haul.

Just because someone paid for business class, why should that make an £86 taxi fare ok?

I think that MSE is less about travelling economy when you'd prefer (for whatever reason) to fly business, and more about getting those business class tickets at the best possible rate.

And I definitely agree with Tozer. Even for those of us with little legs, economy can be pretty miserable on a long flight.

I dont ever remember saying i flew business class, i flew standard which was fine with me.

£86 was paid for by them, i would have accepted the National Express coach as i was soo tired but the rest of the group kicked up a fuss for that.

If I had ended up paying, it would have been train, taxis are a rip off long distance.

After i got to heathrow, i got a bus and train home which cost me £5 compared to the £25 from heathrow to Maidenhead...

hjdodzi, i DO READ this site alot, I have saved ALOT thanks to Martin and his team. The flights were found using screenscrapers, so was the hotel, so was the car hire, everything was done to save money and make the most of it all!

At the end of the day, it was about the principle, i paid to be returned to Heathrow and got sent to Gatwick, is that fair? NO...

Just think, if only you had paid a few pounds more and gone Business class on Virgin, they would have laid on a limousine to take you home from the airport. Sometimes the cheapest is not the best value...

Very much agree with the principle that cheapest is not the best value 100%!

That said, it seems that the OP flew economy on Northwest. I can only assume it was a price-decision.... (OP - not a criticism - flown NorthWorst many a time)

Clearly written by someone who has never flown business class!!!! The difference between business and cattle class is huge - the two just do not compare - whether it is worth the money or not is a different matter!
