MacMini + TV Issue, Can anyone help?

I bought a basic MacMini earlier this week to use with my Samsung 32" LCD TV (Model: LE32A457C1DXXU). Now, when I use the DVI to VGA adapter supplied to connect said MacMini to my TV, the TV goes to sleep, as if no input from the Macmini.

I have successfully connected the Macmini using the same cables to a smaller monitor as I thought it might have been the set up (you know, choosing languages, etc) that was the issue. Past that, and still no joy with the Samsung.

I have also successfully connected my older MacBook to the TV and that was fine, TV registered it, all worked perfectly.

What am I missing here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean too high?

The TV is fine with my MacBook so I doubt it's a problem with Mac OS X as they are both running the same operating system

But they could be set to different display resolutions, and the resolution on your Mac Mini might be too high for your TV to display.

According to the manual, what is the maximum display resolution of your TV?

1360x768 which the MacBook had no problems recognising :(

And what resolution is your Mac Mini set to?

It is capable of outputting resolutions up to 1920x1080 using the VGA adaptor.

It's not it's brand new, the Samsung was the first monitor I ever plugged it into. It should have sorted itself automatically.

When it didn't work I used a different monitor (Smaller,19inch) with it and it registered fine. Checked all settings were OK, nothing looks odd. Then tried the Samsung again but no luck with the MacMini.

But like I said the TV is fine with the MacBook.. :(

I've purchased a DVI to HDMI cable to try instead of VGA but I am not holding my breath....

I have my MacMini connected to my (roughly 2 yr old) Samsung 40in LCD TV. I had a similar problem. MacMini can output 1920x1080 no probs, but the TV saw no input. Turns out that the TV actually wants *59.9Hz* input rather than the *60Hz* that the Mac was outputting. What a daft difference!
The Mac detects what the display is capable of, and shows the capabilities in the Display section of System Preferences. This isn't much use when you can't see your display though. My solution was to use VNC to get into the Mac from my laptop and control it remotely - you'll need to turn it on in Sharing in System Preferences on the MacMini, and it's called Screen Sharing or something.
    HTH!
