Can you help?

Can someone help? Everytime I try to get a home insurance quote through Morethan I fill in all sections and take it through to the end, however, it only ever offers content insurnace, with building insurance greyed out.

I have tried to add buildings insurance, however, cannot select this.

Any ideas?

Thanks

DO you live in an area at risk of subsidence or flooding? Another thing that might be causing problems is the construction of your property- is it standard? (i.e bricks and a tiled roof?)

Hi, yes it is standard (although it is stone built), tiled roof. don't live in an area of risk of subsidence or flooding. Not listed. It is a flat however, do you think that might be why they don't offer it?

Are you sure that buildings insurance isn't included in your service charge that you pay to your management company.

I believe it often works this way where the insurance for the whole building is taken out and you pay for it in your service charge.

What service charge we pay to a management company? We don't have a management company. We own our flat (well semi-own - mortgaged) individually.

Buildings insurance is normally included in the management scheme for a flat. You should check as i'm sure it will be covered. Dont end up buying it twice!

tuggy, lisyloo, thanks, but we don't have a management company.

There are 5 flats in our tenement and we all own our own - don't have a managemet company that oversees.

After trawling for a couple of hours, ...managed to get a great deal with Prudential tho, a saving of £30 a month!! Looks like quite a few places won't offer you cover for flats for some reason.
