Genuine or not?

I have listed some stuff on ebay for the 1st time in months obviously with all thats going on I am a bit paranoid because 1 negative will be enough to suspend me because I have not sold anything since march even though I have 800+ feedback and no negs.
I get a message from an ebayer with 0 feedback before they even bid saying
"hi just wanted to let u know that i will pick up the toys if i win so you wont need to send them. thanks"
so I reply saying that is fine but I would prefer cash on collection espesially as she has 0 feedback I even said I didnt want to sound harsh but you have to be so careful when dealing with people new to ebay.

I then checked out her username in community and her location says channel islands I am in Birmingham  I sent her another quick mail asking her about this and how she planned to collect she replied saying she had no idea why it said channel islands and said the area of birmingham she was from surely when you register with ebay it takes your location from your address/postcode so can a mistake like that happen?
I can see that listing on Ebay again is going to be stressful all I want to do is sell of a few bits I dont need anymore

Sorry for the paranoia but been reading posts on here for a while and was really in two minds about listing anymore but decided to give it a try

    Hi,

Please don't worry too much about 1 Negative suspending your account, I think that it is assessed over the previous 12 months, so just because you haven't listed since March should not be a problem.

If you are worried about problem buyers you can set up buyer requirments, to stop people with very low or negative feedback from bidding, or people with 'X' amount of unpaid item strikes, etc. This should help prevent repeat offenders from bidding on your items. You can set them up via the Site Preferences link on your home page.

As for her location, ebay does automatically fill it in, but it can be amended manually, I changed mine as I didn't want my exact location on the listings, for security. I have seen others with Web site address's for locations:rolleyes:
Or she may have miss typed her postcode, or let someone (child?) use her account and they have changed her settings.
If you are that worried about her in particular you could just add her username to a Blocked bidder list, and prevent her from buying your items.

Also you could ask for cleared payment before collection, so you would have recieved the payment before they turn up to collect (with cheque in hand:eek: ).

Hope your listings go well and you don't get too stressed.

Right after giving the bidder the benefit of the doubt they win at a much higher price than I had anticipated £41.50 for 6 2nd hand baby toys
they now have a feedback score of 1 positive so I thought I am ok things will be fine. I send message asking when they would like to collect they send me one back saying could they collect today and their number is 0751234**** so I can text or call I text my address then I notice something strange about the tell no. ok its got 1234 in it yes it can happen but the 4 missing numbers are 4 numbers taken in sequence from the listing number now I dont want to look stupid by phoning after I have text but it doesnt look good does it? no reply either to my text or email.

oh their address is listed as Birmingham with a B postcode in the channel islands

Call them to set the time or to change it slightly.

Have they paid by PayPal? If not, as long as they give you cash (and as long as that's real, but don't worry about that :) ), you'll be safe.
