I have a Compaq laptop with AMD duo-core processor. It is about 16months old. It is Vista compatible but i prefer to run windows XP media which came installed.

Last night tried to install XP SP3. It had downloaded and went into installing process. Afte a while an error statement came up saying SP3 failed to install. Then it uninstalled SP3 and went back to how it was before the the update to SP3. I have already posted asking why has this happened.

Now the laptop has gone back to how it was before the update Windows Live Messenger (WLM) has stopped working. I went to msn.co.uk and downloaded WLM and came up with the option to repair or uninstall. I selected repair. No luck. Then tried again. Did an uninstall and then install. After each attempt i restarted the laptop. I now have an icon on the screen for WLM but when i click on it nothing happens. Also noticed that when i close the laptop a statement comes up saying msnmgr.exe fails to close down, do i want to end it now.

Any advice?

Thanks
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

msnmgr.exe failing when you close it down is just that the messanger program has failed to end.

how about an uninstall, then a reboot.. then reinstall.

other options, could be too install MSN 7.0, then open it, and update to windows live. I had to do that to get it too work
