I have a Compaq laptop with AMD duo-core processor. It is about 16months old. It is Vista compatible but i prefer to run windows XP media which came installed.

Last night tried to install XP SP3. It had downloaded and went into installing process. Afte a while an error statement came up saying SP3 failed to install. Then it uninstalled SP3 and went back to how it was before the the update to SP3.

Any idea why this is happening? I have read that SP3 has some issues with AMD and/or Dell pc's.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

Thanks for the info. the error i have is access is denied. What i will do later in the week is to download SP3, disconnect from internet and disable antivirus packages etc and then give it a try.
