Took my statements etc into OR's office this morning - they were quite happy to print off more copies of the forms which i should have signed but threw away instead!:o
Then marched off to Barclays and asked the why the F had they frozen my current account just 'cos I was bankrupt?! LOL
Very nice lady looked at the account and said the current account was still active and yes they had been informed of my bankruptcy but since it had nothing to do with them it was looking as if I could keep it. I didn't believe her so she made me go to the cashpoint and get a mini statement. She said if its frozen the machine will eat your card.
It didn't eat my card!:o
However, she did say not to put money in just yet - to just keep monitoring it and dump money in the day before any DD's were due out. She said it must have been the online stuff that is broken because its certainly not your account. It still wont let me access the account on line - but hey ho at least the hole in the wall didn't eat my card. I refused to go to the counter & withdraw £2. If it had been frozen, I would have been sooooooooooooo embarrassed!LOL:oDeb Bankrupt 04/07/08 12.15pm

Yes Ok Dalip ......... but I'm not holing my breath yet. Afterall, it is a current account and does have an overdraft facility. Don't get excited - its £1.50! Yes - I did put the decimal point in the right place!!:D
I suppose the morning could have been worse. The OR's assistant did not look too closely at my bank & cc statements whilst I was there - so didn't see my relationship with Victoria!:rotfl:Deb Bankrupt 04/07/08 12.15pm

The OR and the bank manager at Barclays both told us we could keep the account.2 days after BC they closed the A/c with no warning.0

Had the same thing with the Co-op. Happy for the Cashminder account to go ahead but ordinary account "not policy". Saw childrens' toy banking kit in charity shop this morning. Considering trying to open account there...0

I saw a post a few days back about changing energy suppliers but can't find it now.
I've just changed mine from Scottish power to British Gas with no problems (yet!).
The office phones you back whilst the sales guy is still with you. They check all your details and wait for their computer to come back with either a yes or no.
I didn't say a word about my bankruptcy ........ but got a bit twitchy 'cos the offices computers were on a go slow! I thought ...... here we go!
Its gone through ........... whether it stays gone through will be a different matter!LOL

Debs, the people who close the Barclays accounts are the Financial Services Legal Notices Unit in Newcastle, most branch workers don't even know they exist. That's who the OR sends your notice to. Might be worth giving them a ring 0191 200 2226 to see what they intend to do with your account.
We got so many different stories from in branch and on the phone, all of them wrong!!!!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Wow thanks PP! I got a copy of the letter from the OR's Office stating that they have no interest in this account but they sent it to my old local branch.
I'm a woman on a mission now!LOL:rolleyes:Deb Bankrupt 04/07/08 12.15pm

It's something different they send to Newcastle, official notification of your BR I think.
Our OR was really shocked that Barclays closed our account as they're meant to be BR friendly, she'd also sent a letter to the branch stating she had no interest.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Well, have just opened a co-op cashminder over the phone (they don't do it over the internet any more). Poor guy barely had time to say his name before I told him I was bankrupt. He was very blase and said no pobs.
Its been accepted immediately. Don't even have to go and find a branch to prove my identity.
So its not a worry now if barclays suddenly decide to freeze the account but I will still be phoning them tomorrow.
Blimey - if Barclays keep it open, I get the co -op one & with my PO card .... I'll have more flaming accounts than I did before I went bankrupt!!! :rotfl:Deb Bankrupt 04/07/08 12.15pm
