At last a use for my Junk Mail!

For sometime I have been cutting out my name and address off the junk mail I receive to use as return to sender if undelivered - but never really writing any letters, I have never got to use them up.

Now my five parcels I have just packed up, have all got my name and address on should they go missing (which they wont of course) :D

I do not send stuff (I don't do ebay, if that is what you mean), however I save the best envelopes and put sticky labels on for the address, and I use them when I need an envelope - I get free sticky labels from my marketing work - or I just stuff the whole junk mail lot in their return envelope and send it back to clutter their rubbish bin and waste their time. I also put a note asking them to delete my details from their mailing list.

It has taken me about a year, but I get now about half the c**p I used to.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Try that to reduce your junkmail, they also do it for phone calls etc, and it does work

That is brilliant - thank you. It was so easy to do as well. I have registered with the telephone preference service, but still get some. As soon as I hear that crackly pause I put the phone on the side until they hang up. I would hate to do their job and I feel really sorry for anyone who has to do it for economic reasons.

I really cannot see how it can be a profitable way of getting business do you?

I don't understand it. For the few people they might actually get somewhere with, they alienate a whole host of others. If a product really needs that much marketing it can't be very good, eh?

The TPS does work, but you have to give it a couple of months. I've had no annoying calls in over a year now. I signed up after being persistently called by some double glazing company. Eventually I just played along and made an appointment for a quote on a new conservatory. I wish I could have been there to see the look on the guy's face when he realised I lived in a first floor flat! :rotfl:

The RSPCA or PDSA sent me a load of stickers with my name and address on. They have cute pics of animals too. They're great for Ebay, and they keep sending me more but I don't know why.

  • I get loads from the ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses) and I also use mine for putting on my Ebay stuff. Very handy!

Then they have the cheek to ask for £2 a month! If they didn't send out so many bloody labels and free flippin' pens, they wouldn't need so much money! This is why I refuse to give to any charity, because to a certain extent, most of them waste a proportion of what they are given, and thats not the reason they were set up!

I've never given them money, but they still keep sending me the labels!

  • I keep getting labels and free pens from charities I never respond to as well!
The Telephone Preference Service can stop calls from companies using your number from their files, but unfortunately, some companies actually operate by dialling random numbers, some of which are real phone numbers. This system involves no element of selectivity, so I get things like conervatory salespeople. I live in a rented upstairs flat. Maybe I should try masonic's strategy!
