How do i cook fresh beetroot

    You can eat the leaves as well, take out the rib, shred and wilt like spinach - really tasty!

    Does it matter which vinegar I use for pickling, I really do not understand the difference between them all - malt we put on chips and white we clean with?

    ooooooooo beetroot!

    Australians like the really big ones sliced like pickles into burgers in buns... first time I saw it I thought they were bonkers but once I tasted it I changed my mind!
    If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.



  • My son aged 14 has grown some beetroot which is now ready for cooking. Has anyone a rough idea of how long to cook it for and if it can be done in the slow cooker.

    I covered mine in boiling water, and simmered for about 40 mins. They were quite big; it'll be less for smaller beets ;) I'll add this to the existing beetroot thread to keep ideas together.

    Try this - beetroot in the slow cooker :D
