Hi ,I thought I would just update for those who tried to help.
After my friends mum being quite seriously ill and changing care home after another ones incompetance, she is now getting all fees paid for.Even though it is not being back dated and my friend is thousands of pounds in debt to the council for all previous fees. She her self is near a nervous breakdown and after years of working for the dhs fulltime herself can't even claim sickness benefit because she took time out to care for her mum at home. The system is seriously flawed.
Thank you to all who gave help and advice,
regards Genine xx0 -
I found an article on a website that makes a good read in regards to dementia and care fees. The article raised some interesting points about not finding a placement for your relatives depending on the condition of the dementia.
It's worth a read and can be found on the Paying for care website.0
