Where do I stand?

I recently won an auction - and very uncharacteristically I was a little late in paying - I received an "eBay Unpaid Item Reminder" much to my embarrassment. Anyway - I sent off a cheque and emailed the seller with my apologies and lame excuse. Today when I logged onto eBay I discovered that an Unpaid Item Dispute had been opened and the seller was saying he hadn't heard from me. I have responded to this with the details of my payment - but I notice that it is also saying that the seller is no longer registered- where do I stand? If I don't receive the item will there be anything I can do?
Fortunately it is an inexpensive item so I can live with it if I don't receive it but I've never been in this situation (I usually pay immediately by paypal but the seller didn't accept paypal).
Thanks in advance for you expert opinions/advice

Dont think you can do anything once the member is not registered apart from cancelling the cheque so they cannot make payment on the item0

I've had this before but luckily it was for an item which was only £3.50 - but still annoying. You will have to hope that the seller is honest enough to send the item. If he doesnt you can contact ebay who will try to do something about it but they still cannot physically make the seller post the item. I never got my £3.50 thing.
