Land of Leather

Purchased an ivory Renata 3 + 2 seater for £699 from Land of Leather on 23/6/05 and was given the approximate delivery date of 8-10 weeks. Bargain I thought.

After the 8th week, my wife rings them to get an update. "Haven't you had a letter from us?" comes the response. "You should have it by the 3rd September." Not too bad as it's only 2 days over the 10 weeks we thought.

Anyway nothing happens and so I call them and am told that demand has been so high that their manufacturer is struggling to get them all over here.

Call them again after 14 weeks and are told that a delivery is imminent.

Now into the 17th week and have just driven down to the store. Apparently, a large shipment has just arrived but they are still awaiting customs clearance. But this isn't a shipment for the store I bought the suite off; it's a shipment for all the stores.

I ask if I'm likely to get it before Christmas and am told that this is probably the case but that they cannot guarantee it. I point out that there are other companies that are promising Christmas delivery if I purchase a suite from them now and they say that they can only apologise. I was also told that they had customers from this particular store that were still waiting for their orders from May and that my order was rather late in June by comparison.

I have now been told that the only complaints system they have is one that places comments next to the order and that if I want a refund (I'd rather have my suite) that I should write a letter of 'time of essence'. Whereby, they have 14 days to supply me with the goods or I then get a full refund.

The girl I spoke to today was really nice and kept apologising as I'm sure that she has had to do it numerous times before - she knew what colour the suite was going to be when I told her I'd been waiting over 16 weeks.

Maybe I should have been more aware by Land of Leather's acronym - lol.

I'd strongly recommend getting in touch with their delivery company and speaking to the Logistics Manager.
I did this when our suite's delivery date from Harvey's was put back time and time again.
As soon as I spoke to the main man I got a date sorted within hours!
