sound like a hard disk problem
try a linux boot disk
download UBCD
www.haraldkraft.de
and burn it to a cd
then hit F2 on boot and make sure that the PC is set to boot from CD
something like Knoppix
KNOPPIX_V5.1.1CD-2007-01-04-EN.iso
or Ubuntu
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
will allow you to burn the data from the hard disk IF you can see itEx forum ambassador

thats the only way you will get it to boot
if you have ANY Xp cd then try this

or follow this

to carry out a chkdsk /r
and if that does not work then a fixboot and fixmbr
this will only fix errors on the hard disk and then the initial boot files if corrupted by hdd errorsEx forum ambassador
