My Norton 360 subscription is about to expire and I'm not sure if I should renew it.
Can anyone recommend a good AV with (preferably) combined firewall?
Don't mind paying as long as it's not too much, but would prefer an all-in-one program rather than separates which I've had before.

Hi,
I have ditched a paid-for AVG8 after the upgrade nonsense and switched happily to the free Comodo firewall, with the free Avast anti virus. Google should turn both of these up.
Working very well for me, but YMMV.

hi
can you tell me why you ditched AVG8 paid for version, as i was thinking of buying it.
i use AVG8 free edition and thought it was OK except for the missing features you get with paid for version

Does Kaspersky 2009 (or whatever the latest version is) have a combined firewall?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Yes, Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.
ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite for XP
Both have free trials.
Use the Norton Removal Tool to ensure that all traces of Norton have been removed before installation of the new suite. Download them firstly of course.0 -
Thanks Donnie - which one would you recommend?

Do you have a modem or a router to connect you to the internnet? The reason i am asking is that router's have a built in hardware firewall, modems do not, so if you have a router just make sure that the firewall is enabled and just use the windows built in firewall.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

I was getting all sorts of alerts that kept coming back, an error which prevented me from getting into some of the config, and it was a bit of a hog.
I did repair installs several times, remove and complet re-install several times to no avail.
The support was slooooow and not much help, so I gave up. AVG7.5 was excellent (which was what I bought) , but I'm not sure v8 was ready for market. Just my experience - but I think if you look around, I'm not alone.
Hope that helps,

I pay for Eset Smart Security. Well worth it in my opinion. In fact my last renewal last month I decided to pay for three year license. I used to use the freebies such as AVG, Avast, Comodo, Zonealarm but they don't really compare to Eset."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

If your gonna buy. I would recommend Eset Smart Security.
I used most of the others and ESET is the best one out there imo.
Unbelivably light on resoruces as well. Doesnt hog your system down like norton, mcfee etc etc0
