best toaster

Hi,
I am looking for a good toaster which will toast well and will do crumpets and thick stuff. I want one that is very good and will last a long time. I'm not too bothered about the price as quality is much more important to us. My husband says the Dualit they had at work was unreliable so I'm looking for alternatives.

Dualit are about the best, I would say at work it must suffer all types of abuse..........?

Our breville brushed steel 4 slice toaster seems good and not had any probs with it. There is a button to toast bread from frozen, a button to rewarm toast too. It has fairly wide slots with an option of toasting 2 or 4 slices, and warming rack thingy that we've never actually used. We toast muffins and crumpets in it ok. Seems to be quite slow compared to other toasters we've had but consistently gives good toast - perhaps the slower cooking time is what makes it better i'm not sure.

Toasters by Swan seem to do well in tests(I think it was top dog on the Gadget Show). You don't see many about though.

Just bought a Krups and we can't believe how quick it is, but as it's new I don't know how long it will last! Seems well built though and their coffee machines are good.

It has a device for lifting the bread right out of the toaster - handy for teacakes and muffins which are smaller than a sliced loaf.
