Virgin Media stole from me

I had a couple of direct debits come out of my account last week headed Virgin media totalling £32.
Now i'm not with Virgin media after closing my account at my parent house months ago when i was moving. I called them up on their 0845 number and sat on hold for 40 minutes before speaking to someone.

Apparently my dad had enquired about getting an account with them (after me warning him not to) but decided not to go ahead with it... They have then reactivated an account at his address, IN MY NAME!!!!

I'm fuming.
1. I didnt ask for it
2. I dont even live there
3. They've taken money from MY account

They then had the cheek to tell me they will be billing me for calls I MADE!!
Wished them luck with that and quickly cancelled the direct debit on my online banking. They finally said they would waive this charge, how very generous of them. As far as my dad is aware he's with tiscali as he told virgin he wasnt interested, but it would seem virgin say his calls are going through them?!

I now have to wait 3 weeks for them to refund my money by cheque and they have promised to cancel the account at the beginning of August?!

What else can i do? I've written them a letter but dont hold out much hope of reply. I really need the money they took from my account and dont want to wait 3 weeks for a cheque and then have to wait for it to clear.

Why not get the DD refunded via your bank, happens overnight, it seems it was an unauthorised payment and therefore will be covered by the DD guarantee, far simpler then waiting for a cheque to be issued.
