Not entirely sure if this is the right place for this - but hopefully somebody might be interested.
I've made a little web-app with my own hands you can find at:
www.checkean.com
(which is a bit like an item of poultry if that helps you remember it).
(oh and EAN = European Article Number - which is the proper name for those barcodes on pretty much everything).
Very very simple idea. You load the page up on your phone (designed to be really really lightweight and fit on the screen of pretty much any phone) and punch in the EAN (number under the barcode) or ISBN (book identifier #).
In return you get a little table showing you the current price of the item new and second hand on Amazon (and also playtrade if you click the box at the bottom).
Should be useful for all manner of stuff, but main uses are:
You want to buy something in a shop - you can instantly see how much you'd save by putting it down and picking it up 2nd hand when you get home.
You see something you reckon might be worth a bit of cash in a charity shop or car book sale - and can check to see if there's a profit to be made re-selling it before you pick it up.
Anyway - the app's completely free, so please just have a look now with whatever you've got lying within arms reach and if you like it, bookmark it on your phone.
Currently this is just a little hobby I'm tinkering with - but I'm thinking there's maybe a small niche for it. Maybe automatically emails you purchase links for stuff you resisted buying retail, or checks more online sites, or.. or.. Oh I've no idea, but I'm open to suggestions.
Oh - and before I wrap this post up. Please pass/cross-post this to anybody who might be interested. It's my baby and I want people to admire it

Wish I had a phone with internet that doesn't cost an arm and a leg!
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
