HELP free trial expired and didn't cancel

Hi,
I registered for a 7 day free trial with a company called highbeam which provide article access. I've used it before which is how this problem occured. When i used it before i canceled before the end of the trial and assumed my account would be closed(but it wasn't). The username i used this time was very similar to the old one - and same email-so this time when i went to cancel i accidentely used my old username. I got through to my account and canceled. Now i've just had $200 taken out of my account and realise that i hadn't canceled the correct account. It seems so unfair that i have to pay for a whole year- that i can't afford- for a mistake and that i wasn't notified that my old account was still active. Is there any hope for this situation? I've been emailing them but have had no reply. They're based in Chicago.

if it was taken as a direct debit ring bank first thing and say they took the money without your consent or knowledge..
If an error is made by the organisation or your bank or building society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid

Not any more - they entered into a contract, tried to be clever and failed. Sounds like the site is quite clear about what it's offering.0 -
I don't think the company has actually done anything wrong, so perhaps you should learn from this mistake and in future make a note of your username and password.
After all, you have already admitted it was YOUR mistake... Some companies often do keep your username and email even if your account is closed, but it was up to you to get the correct username.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Why pay, when Wikipedia is free!0

Agree with everyone else, it was your mistake for trying to pull a fast one by getting free access using two different accounts and it is in no way "so unfair". Best get some good use of the articles for the next year so it isn't a total waste of $200.0

Serves you right, you also say you have used them before so why were you trying to "trial" them again?
Its TOUGH! You will just have to use them now. Dont be so tight in future.0 -

erm I'm not saying anything else is 100% accurate I'm just saying that a source that is made up entirely of posts by anyone who feels like it can't be trusted to be accurate. If you read your own sources there the first one clearly states that wikipedia is full of inaccuracies - have you actually read the article or just the headline?0
