Item Sent but Not Recived by Buyer

Hi, I have been a ebay memeber since 2004 and all my feedback has been positive. Last week, I sold an item of clothing and sent it to the buyer the next day. I did not send it via recorded post but by normal standard post as this is how I always send items and have never had any problems before.

This evening I received a call from an irate buyer (she went through ebay to get my home phone number) that claims that she never received the item. I have the receipt from the post office and explained to her that I am not able to do anything else?
Can anyone please advise me of what to do? I dont want to have any negative feedback.

Much appreciated, thanks.

  • if she has waited a reasonable amount of time you must refund her and claim yourself from the post office using your proof of postage receipt.

if you cant prove dleivery then paypal will refund the buyer and its up to you to claim it back from the royal mail. paypal always ask for proof of delivery not proof of postage so all those people who say they are not responsibel for items lost in the post are talking tosh. the problem is that so many dodgy chavs are claimnig that stuff doesnt arrive all the time, it is hard to tell who is telling the truth and who is trying it on.

Its only been a week. I think you have to wait 15 days.

Whilst it is 15 working days before you can claim from RM, I wouldnt advise making a buyer wait this long in these days of trigger happy NEGgers, I usually explain that I need to wait 15 days to claim off RM but say I will refund within a week to 10 days. That way it makes it look like you are being generous and reasonable.

If the item was too large for a letterbox, then I would advise phoning RM customer service and ask for the number for the addressee's local depot. Call them and ask if the item is sat on the shelf there. It may have been an attempted delivery for which no red card was left.
