To find scan disk, click on start, then all programs, then accessories, then system tools, in there you will find scan disk.

How do you get the Windows XP to show you how many bad sectors there are on a disk and other information that ScanDisk used to show?

Also, when formatting a floppy in XP, how do you get it to show similar information?

The only way I know that I have an imperfect disk is because of the noise the drive makes. It also shows as having some used space, despite being empty.

When you run the chkdsk (using the way Mr Skint says) it should tell you how many bad sectors there are.

Not sure about the floppy though - you should be able to do it the same way without having to restart.
