Excuse my clulessness but im a newbie to this bit of money saving... I currently have telewest phone with talk weekends and talk mobile as an extra. Totalling £12 a month before i make any calls.

I also have analouge tv and dial up internet as it was all that was available when i signed up... now im being upgraded (cos the area is - i have no choice) to digital tv so thats gonna be £2 a month more... taking my new monthly total for all 3 to £31.50! :(

Im on a tight budget and was horrified last month when my bill come in with call costs £12!! (For actually just less than one month if im honest :o ) Im looking at ways to seriously cut this back as you can imagine.. i know talking on the phone less is one way :rotfl: ... and as most of them calls are to my mum (who is a lurker on here so appreciates MSErs ways ;) ) ive taught her how to use MSN instead so we can talk over that sometimes .. But im still wanting to cut my costs on calls i have to make. I ring mainly local numbers and 02 and virgin mobile numbers. So what would be my best bet?

I think signing up for 1899 would be it? But can someone verify that for me... and if i do sign up for that would it then be sensible to drop the call mobile extra that i pay telewest £1.50 a month for?

thanks in advance!

As far as calls to 01/02 georaphical numbers are concerned you would be better off by using 1899 using the 0800 access number. If you dont make lots of mobile calls you probaly be better off using 1899 for them. But if you make a few you would probaly be better keeping mobile extra, particularly on o2 calls.

Still use Telewest for your weekend geographical (01/02) calls though.

if you still need internet and digital tv

telewest are doing a limited offer, for £15 per month ( until 31st Oct you get broadband and digital tv package per month. as telewest are upgrading all broadband to 2mb min, you would get 2 mb broadband and digital tv plus free install for £15 per month

i pay £35 per month for 2mb broadband so this deal is obviously a bargain.

Give them a call and tell them that you dont want any telewest service anymore.
I told them to come and take my set top box away as i have just bought a digibox, anyway they said what if you keep your basic t.v. package for free, and they sent a tech out to re-install it in our bedroom, they said i may use it to buy a footie match or a film....nice one.
I was told that if you phone to say you are leaving telewest that they will offer you a better and cheaper deal that i already have, and this came from a telewest salesman...........it works as i have tried it twice in the last two years.
