On Sat 15 Oct I got 7 silent calls from this number.. Anyone know what this is & how can I stop them calling me.

If you take it at face value the answer is here at Cableforum. Just another call centre bunging out silence calls it seems.

most call centres have some odd thing where it takes 3 or 4 seconds before they can speak to you, i always know it is a call centre as it waits this long before they try and sell me something, i then hang up.

fina;lly spoke to someone today 3rd nov after on average 4 calls per day It sounded like an indian offering me a state of the art mobile phone for free when I told them to send it they said i needed to sign a contract. After arguing with them for 20 mins they still refused to just send me the free phone that that they offerd so I told them to fcuk off and hung up... hopfully never to hear from them again

I had an overseas call centre offering me a '3' phone the other night. I said it was difficult to talk on this number, could they please call back on my 0871.. number (it forwards calls to the same phone). This they duly did. After 20 minutes ( the supervisor intervened when he could hear the first telesales operator's script was not adequate) asking about reception in my postcode area, what features did the phone have, what resolution was the camera etc, and then asking if their database was TPS compliant.

It's a shame that the staff in such establishments are given thankless tasks to do such as this, but if enough of the cold-called give them the runaround like this we'll be doing them a favour eventually, as market forces will dictate to them that they should clean up their act with bone-fide sales leads.

I answer, ask who is calling then say, just hold on please - leave the phone, then after 20mins or so when it starts it's phone off hook alarm nosie, you can hang up.

They will try again, repeatedly, just give em the same over and over again. I think I won in the end - as they have now stopped calling me. Played this with game Carphone Warehouse.
