Win 2k latest security update.

Immediately after the latest round of updates which covered Xp and Win2kpro I have lost connection to the net. Connection is made and stats available on the wireless card program but no internet. I have uninstalled the file which caused the zonealarm probs in xp, saw this suggestion elsewhere, but no help. Uninstalled the wireless and reinstalled, re enterred the ssid etc but to no avail. Thought about a system restore but can't see that ita available on win2kpro. The last bit on the IE address says dns error but I can't find out anything else. Any thoughts much appreciated.
Ps, using sygate for firewall and avg. This is similar to the zonealarm problem but I can't find a fix anywhere.

close the firewall sofware or uninstall it to rule the problem out.

Already tried closing firewall and no joy. Not sure if you mean uninstall Sygate. If so I'll give it a go, nil desperandum. Thanks.

there is a problem with one of the recent microsoft updates which results in no web access with zonealarm.

It may be a similar problem with a sygate firewall?

I tend to agree with you but Zonealarm have a fix for their problem, I don't (yet)

No I haven't, I'm willing to try anything but why would a router reboot help matters? There's no problem with the other comps (xp) either on wireless or wired so you've made me curious.

Ah I didn't realise you had other computers and it is only affecting one.

I had a similar problem after downloading the latest update and I don't have zonealarm, after doing system restore and removing the update I still could not get a connection although all the lights on my Netgear router were showing correctly, in the end as as I was running out of ideas I rebooted the router and everything came back normal.

I have never had any problems before and am now going to wait a few days before downloading and giving the update another try.

I'll give it a try in the morning, it'll sync higher, and see if it helps, got to do something as its the MIL's comp.

Well,I rebooted router and her computer and its back. I can only think that it had something to do with the allocation of IP addresses. Thanks.
