Should the shop sell the item at £10 or £20?

When I worked in retail (part time after school) (some 18 years ago) I do recall that there was legislation along the lines of what Ben is stating. If we repriced something upwards we had to take it all off the shelves, change the price in the store and then restock it. This has changed due to the advent of barcodes, all they have to do is change the price on the shelf.
I don't know what the specific legislation is, however, or if it is still in force.0 -

AmandaD wrote:If the actual label said £10 then they would probaly give it to you for that price, but even then all they have to do is apologise and take it off the shop floor for 24 hours and put it back out again. This is obviously just an error and a very easy mistake to make.

If the same jackets were marked at £10 and they are identical (check the codes on the label are the same as you can have 'old stock' even though it's the same - also some colours/sizes can be more expensive due to popularity) and the other was marked at £20 it's worth challenging the shop as the jacket may well have been missed in the markdown.Watch out people.
