christmas in London??

Just looking for some advice or help with staying in London for Christmas? This is just an idea at the moment not definite, but I will be going down on the 27th anyway with my son, so the I thought if we all went over Christmas may be easier although I imagine fairly expensive, so would have to see.
I'd love to stay at the Waldorf Hilton, which there are rooms available for me and DS for one night, but not for all of us over 4 nights (christmas eve to 28th), at least not as far as I've found online at one of sites with discounts.

I did find a hotel st martins lane or something, had a suite for £400.. anybody know anything about that one?

Or can anyone suggest anywhere that may not be too pricey but still decent and near the west end?? Waldorf Hilton is in the ideal spot and obviously a stunning hotel, but obviously costly.

If we all go it's for 2 adults and 3 kids aged 2-12. Just really checking out prices as we'll also need to add on our travel costs too. Probably train, but not sure yet.

If all else fails we're off to see David Tennant and Patrick Stewart in Hamlet! Can't wait! :j:j:j:T

Thanks
Yvonne

Just finding that this may be going to be too expensive.... nearly £2,000 for 4 nights for 5 of us... maybe that isn't bad for London? But too much for us, not including transport and already paid a fair amount for tickets to theatre. hmmm.. still open to suggestions though?

I viewed a Brittania hotel for Christmas in Canary Wharf it was £160 for 5 days full board f(3 meals per day) for adults last year. All entertainment included ie carols on Christmas Eve with mince pies and mulled wine etc.
Loads of entertainment for kids too.
Close to tube station, leisure centre next door, perfect for the sales in Oxford Street.

Might have changed but worth a try, let me know how you get on!

I'm going to see Hamlet too, can't wait! But are you really taking 3 kids aged
2-12 to see it? Surely it's not suitable for young children...

As for the hotel - you can get much cheaper than that, even over christmas,
but the quality will not be as good as the Waldorf Hilton.

You can get a family room at the London Covent Garden travelodge for £109 per night - comes to £428.

No... Just me and the 12 year old going to hamlet.. cost enough as it is!! :rotfl:
But thought that since we were going down anyway, we could maybe all go down for Christmas this year.. not totally sure other half is up for this yet though and depends on what we can find. Doubt he'd want to spend 4 days in one room over christmas, had also looked at the travel inn. The Waldorf is booked up then anyway, but would imagine it would be a bit too pricey for us right now.. shame though.
Would need to be worth us all going down over Christmas I think.. otherwise will just be me and DS on the 27th for a night.

    Thanks for info though.
