I bought a rechargable drill with charger and 2 batteries. there was a problem. I would charge both batteries to full and then maybe put the tool away when i went to use maybe 3 days later both batteries were flat. went back to B Q they got me a new charger and 2 more batteries. but there the same. my question is can you charge your batteries fully then put them away and expect them to still have power when you want?, i dont really want to have think about charging them before going to do a job. by the way its diy not pro work.
thanks

fully charged Nimh battery shouldn't self-discharge in 3 days. Certainly they would self-discharge if left more than 6 months. What type/make are the batteries?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Most power tool batteries are made up of a number of cells usually 1.2V multiples, hence 7.2V, 12V. If just 1 cell is duff or failing it can discharge the other batteries.
I've seen this before in packs of rechargeable batteries, duff cells, not so common these days from new but if the whole lot is a relatively cheap one then no expense will have been spared on the quality of the bettery cells - literally no expense :-)
I would take them back again.0 -
no there not ryobi.
the drill came reccomended from a friend its B n Q's own PRO range the batteries are "18 volt battery 1500mAh type CLM18VRB"
its not 1 battery its all 4. seems strange they have sent 2 new batt's and 1 new charger but whatever combination i use i get the same result.
will have to try and find reciept, you can see from the condition of things that its not old or had much use.Div 1 Play Off Winners 2007

Was told by a battery manufacturer that rechargeables are expected to loose 5% of their stored capacity per day0
