My listing has been removed by ebay
I advertised an original genuine MS Office 97 in its original case and its original cd-key on the back but its been removed by ebay. They have listed it as being an unauthorised copy, but its original
This has never happened to me before.
What's the best way to deal with this? They have sent me an email with some web links but anyone who can offer any help would be appreciated.
How does this affect my ebay rating as it currently 91 with 100% good feedback?
WIll they monitor my auctions more closely now. (I have nothing to hide but would like to know when I am being watched!)
I have other software to sell which is unused OEM software should I list this or it it likely to get pulled as well.
Any help or advice much appreciated

How on earth did they spot your item in amongst the 99.99999999% of software sold on eBay which ARE pirate copies?????
Someone must have reported your posting.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
It's a sad fact but nearly all of the MS Office packages for sale on eBay are pirated, be they blatent copies, illegal OEMs or "not for resale" items. Yours was genuine so I can only surmise that one of the pirates has reported your auction to get rid of the competition. I'm assuming you have the licence for it - it IS illegal to sell just the CD and key without one.
eBay would not have done this without a report. Good news is that there will be no "increased checking" in the future and your 100% feedback will be OK.
I used to sell the occasional piece of software on eBay but couldn't compete with the pirates. They pay the fees and some are Power Sellers! Can I help?0 -
Even if its legit, I suspect that the Microsoft license is not transferrable. Im not 100% certain, but I think this is the case.illegitimi non carborundum0

the key is the license and microsoft dont stop you loading your own copy onto multiple pcs at homeneed to have a lightbulb moment0

That's incorrect, whilst they don't "stop" you, you should check your license agreement if you do want to conform. A key is piracy prevention measure and nothing more. Each product will have either a printed EULA or one that is shown before installation, refer to this at minimum. You should have some type of certificate too, either a sticker on the case or other form.
Fire it up and see what the EULA says, maybe it's not for resale or it's OEM and has to be sold with hardware. I'm surprised they targetted you when there are so many blatantly obvious pirate copies about, and some charging an arm and a leg for such.0 -

As Froggitt says, unless you have permission from microsoft, you should not be selling their software. They could complain about you under the VeRo programme. I would sell it somewhere less conspicuous if I were you (also away from all the pirate copies!)
Don't worry about the fact your listing got pulled. It will not affect your feedback rating or anything else. Just don't make a habit of it, or ebay will start to take action against you.0 -
Even if its not OEM software, Microsoft generally have non-transferrable license terms.
The more recent versions of Office force you to register it online or over the phone, so buying them on Ebay will generally b a waste of cash, as they will probably already have been registered.
Heres a free tip for you......Microsoft Office Student/Teacher edition.....allows you to load it legally on upto three PCs, and you can generally purchase it from the likes of Amazon for £85 or so. And usually you can upgrade it to include Access for another tenner or so. You need to have at least one kid in fulltime education.illegitimi non carborundum0
