Current charges...

Hiya,

Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere.

I have just changed jobs and my new employer told me the wrong pay day (gee thanks) resulting in £140 worth of charges for unpaid dds and sos (lloyds tsb).

I have had a letter saying the charges are likely to go through on 1st august.

Anyone recommend a good approach to try and get them to stop the charges going through? Will the 'test case' speil apply in this case?

Super peeved about it as it's a basic bank account with 100% clean slate ruined! First time I've ever had a bank account without any charges/problems. Was hoping to ask them to consider an upgrade soon but I guess that's blown it now!

Anyway, any advice would be apreciated!

Thanks in advance.

A couple people on these boards have had some success (similar situation to yours) by calling up the bank and asking for a refund.

    It was worth a try......

    Good luck

    Thanks Andy,

Just called them and after 30 mins on the phone I got them to agree to cancel the £40 of DD charges but they wouldn't budge on the £100 of SO charges - they seem to think I didn't do enough to stop the SOs going through (I wonder if they would have made the same decision had the amounts been reversed ;) ?!)

I have been advised to put the request for the £100 in writing, which I have done. I have included some email conversation between me and my new boss about the mix up in payment dates in the hope that someone human reads it!!

In any case, I guess £40 is better than nowt, but fingers crossed for the other £100.

    Thanks again

  • Good well done £40 is better than nothing, I would send off letter requesting £100 to be refunded and see what happens...

    Good Luck
