Well I left school in 97 and we DID get taught basic life skills such as interest, how to sign cheques, the need to budget as well as cookery (basics such as spag bol, shepherds pie etc - I still use my school cook books now!) and how to wash clothes etc as part of a textiles course (i.e. what do those labels mean!)
Whilst my friends from other schools thought this was a bit funny I think these sort of things should be taught - they are probably the only skills ALL children will need - the rest of what is taught is probably useful but only used by some!

Well yes, but of course one could see Italian as modern Latin, just as we have evolved English since, so one could apply the modern italaina at a push, however plants have latin ascribed names (in cluding new plants) and coffea is I belive the applied latin word for the coffee plant...but not 100% sure on that.
I was going to have a go at ordering coffee in Latin but I ust checked my Latin with DH (who speaks Latin and ancient greek) and he laughed at my attempt, so ridicule at home will do for tonight

Hey I'm selling a 3 bedroom house for £99,950 in the north of england, she can buy my house and she'll have a ton of equity left over to keep the kids in private schooling. I'll be lucky if I have a grand left after my sale.
And, if things get worse for us we're thinking of getting rid of the car and my husband start cycling to work! This lady may have to get rid of the bmw and get an MG instead!!! doesn't really cry recession to me yet!0 -
