I must admit I am really enjoying it but it's a lot harder (and more expensive) than I first anticipated. Taking good photos is more than poiting a camera at the bride and hoping for the best :rotfl: . What I have been finding is that the lighting inside churches and venues like hotels is usually awful and you've got to know what you are doing to get a well exposed shot that is not washed out by direct flash. It's a challenge but I am learning a little more each time.
loulabelle44 - thanks for your kind comments. I guess being a bride myself last year really helps me put myself in their shoes.
Just a suggestion here. Our photographer is meeting with us at our photo location the Monday before the wedding at nearly the exact time we will be having our photos taken on the wedding day to look at the light etc so we can talk about what shots to take and where. Maybe you could do that either by yourself or with the couple so you are a bit more prepared on the day?
(BTW, just a suggestion based on what our photographer is doing, I really know nothing about photography, but good luck in continuing to build up your portfolio)0 -

I think this is pretty standard practice, I know our photographer did this last year however you can't always judge the light from one visit. I've been to a venue that was lovely and sunny then the next time dark and gloomy due to the weather and time of day. It's a great idea to know the location though as it helps you plan the shots and find hidden gems!It all works out good in the end.If it's not good, it's not the end!0 -
After reading this with great interest, I too would like to offer some free wedding photography to someone in the Lincoln area, I already have a portrait business with a studio and I am looking to expand into wedding photography. I know I cant advertise here hence no link and no identification of myself. So if there is anyone out there who is getting married in the next 6 months or so in Lincoln pm me and I will see if I can help. Regards all readers!0
